ABOUT
Australian-born pianist Cowley Fu was classically trained in Sydney by renowned Australian pianist, Stephanie McCallum. Under her tutelage, his fondness for the music of Alkan and contemporary classical works grew, spanning works from Schoenberg to contemporary Australian composers such as Elena Kats-Chernin and Nigel Butterley. Cowley's attraction to contemporary classical music led him to pursue postgraduate studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland where he currently resides, furthering his experience of contemporary works with notable performances of Finnish works by Sibelius, Saariaho, and Heininen. During his studies, Cowley has worked with luminaries such as Lang Lang, Freddy Kempf, Steven Osborne, and Roy Howat. Cowley holds degrees from both Sydney University and the Sibelius Academy with secondary training in piano pedagogy.
As a pedagogue, Cowley has over a decade's worth of experience teaching students of all ages and levels.

Outside of classical music, Cowley has also developed a knack for singing after broadening his playing into jazz. His singing is especially influenced by the vocals of Chet Baker. Currently, he is enjoying life as a freelance musician and working closely with Finnish radio & tv personality, Jaajo Linnonmaa, playing as a regular pianist at his Bricco wine bar in Helsinki.

As a pianist, Cowley is an experienced ensemble musician, soloist, and skilled sight-reader. He is available as a rehearsal pianist, session musician, and as a teacher.
